Route Map

Go north along the road that runs alongside the Village Hall behind the Crown Inn. At the end of the road, take the path to the right of the fence down to the Broadheath Rd. Cross the road, taking care as sight lines are poor.
Walk over the patch of grass towards the wooden gate, taking the narrow path into the wood. Beware some tree roots along the way. Follow it for some 300 m as it crosses a field and runs behind the village school.
Half way across the field beyond the school turn right through the gap in the fence. Point 1 on Map. Ignore Follow the small access road in front of you to the main road A443 with No 1 Brownes Way café on your right. Point 2 on Map.
Turn right to the crossing in front of the school. Cross the road, turn right and take the footpath along the hedge after Windsor Cottage. This emerges onto a green space with new houses. Follow the tarmac path ahead to the nature pond. Point 3 on Map.
From the pond, follow the new path diagonally across past the green space with a small play area to your left. Cross the road through the gate and follow the old ‘Pinch’ path between hedges. You pass an information board about ‘The Pinch’ on your left. At the end of the straight path,* you come to a T junction. Point 4 on the Map. Turn right and follow a winding track back to the Village Green. Feel free to stop at the ‘Happy Bench’ on the Green.
Turn angled right along the side of the Green and cross the Main Road with care to return to the Village Hall.
*December 2024 the path on the right is currently blocked. If it is still blocked, turn left at the T junction and then right at the next T junction. Go through a couple of metal gates until you meet a road. Turn right here and towards the end of the road you will see the village green and can continue your walk. (If you would like to visit the old churchyard, turn left on the road)
Directions for extension to Walk 1 -
around Hallow Village
From Point 3 on the Map, take the path which runs along the hedge on the far side of the pond. This runs south past two large oak trees. Keep straight on where another path runs right across a field. Go through two stile gates and alongside a wooden fence to Church Lane. If you want to visit the old Churchyard, turn left to the end of the road and the Churchyard remains are ahead of you.
Otherwise, turn right onto Church Lane and after 50 m follow the footpath through the stile gate to the left.
A small path takes you down a dip and up to the Church via the Churchyard. Alternatively, as you come out of the dip. Turn left through the metal gate and follow the path to the right across the field to the main road. Turn right and follow the road back to the Green and the Village Hall.
